1982

Where it all Began

Culver’s Lawn & Landscape began in 1982, when entrepreneur, Todd Culver started a lawn mowing business at the age of 12 in Dallas, Texas. Originally from Iowa, Todd moved back to Cedar Rapids in 1984 where he continued his lawn and landscaping services and met Tami, his wife.

1997

Purchased Current Land

In 1997, the two purchased the current land to operate their landscaping business, as well as start a new retail garden center. As the business grew, the Culver’s recognized the need to expand.

1998

Opened the Garden Center

In 1998, Todd & Tami opened a retail store, offering flowers, trees, shrubs, gifts & garden items.

2004

Construction Began on New Landscape Design Center

In 2004, construction began on the new Landscape Design Center and the following year it was opened. Now, over 40 years later, the two have grown and developed the company to encompass one of the most recognized landscaping companies in Iowa, a full service garden center with gift shop, greenhouse, and landscape nursery.

Culver's Today

Today, Culver's operates in three industries, including service, production, and retail. The service department provides landscaping design and install, along with a complete lawn maintenance department. The production team consists of a little over 49,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse space, where we grow the most spectacular flowers. Our retail area is host to a large nursery bursting with a strong and healthy stock of trees and shrubs, a stunning gift shop, and the most gorgeous greenhouse in the state of Iowa!

Tami & Todd are very thankful for their staff, both past and present, that have worked at Culver's since the day they first broke ground. Included in that staff are Todd & Tami's five children, who have grown up and worked at Culver's over the years. A lot of hard work and tender care has helped to grow Culver's Garden Center & Greenhouse and Culver's Lawn & Landscaping into what they are today.

What you'll Find at Culver's

Located on 26 acres, Culver’s has continued to develop and change the outlook of the business every single year. As you first approach the retail space, you will find a beautiful patio to the north. On this patio you’ll find furniture, pottery & food trucks during special events. The beauty of the surrounding plants and the quality craftsmanship of the patio accent the grounds at Culver’s.

After the new patio area, you will come across two sets of double doors. Just inside these doors is one of the best gift shops in Eastern Iowa. Culver’s offers everything from gifts and decor to delicious gourmet foods. You can accesorize yourself and your garden, plus find a one-of-a-kind gift for that special person in your life.

Just beyond the garden center and gift shop is the first of 14 greenhouses. Here, you will find high quality annuals grown right on-site by the Culver’s greenhouse staff. With thousands of varieties to choose from, there is something for everyone!

Once you have reached the back of the first greenhouses, you will notice the perennial section at Culver’s. Several of the perennials are grown on-site, with additional high quality perennials brought in to keep the section full throughout the season and into late fall. Culver’s perennials are grouped by sun and shade, making it easier to find something suitable for your garden.

To the south of the greenhouses, you will come across a beautiful outdoor living area. It was constructed by the Culver’s Lawn & Landscape staff in 2012. In this outdoor living space, you will find a stunning patio with two fireplaces, one upright and one large fire pit, plus a beautiful outdoor kitchen including a pizza oven!

Just beyond the patio, is a nursery full of unique trees and shrubs in all sizes. The shrubs are grouped by species, allowing you to see endless options of hydrangeas, evergreens, maples and more! While in the nursery, you will find several paths with different styles and colors. These paths were constructed to show the guests at Culver’s the numerous options for patios, walkways, and more for any setting, whether it is residential or commercial.
